current players and recruits is broken.
Keeping some continuity in the program is vital. Despite what some people on here feel, Ricky Stokes was not the worst coach VT has ever had. It's a toss-up between Frankie Allen and Bobby Hussey. Those guys left the cupboard absolutely bare, while Ricky did not.
Right now, VT's cupboard is reasonably well stocked. There are holes in the current roster, as always. Specifically at the 4/5 spot and the 2 spot. And there are projected big-time needs at guard after next year.
Does anyone really think that a new coach can come in here with multiple defections and just make things sing along as if nothing happened? What kind of drugs are people taking these days?
Losing begets losing. And if VT tanks this year and next year due to lack of ACC-caliber players, don't you think that will make the job of recruiting 2x harder than it already is?
We need a coach who can come in, stabilize the situation right now, and then go from there.
