Well guys its appearing less and less likely. Smart has had a few talks with VT but they just arent willing to offer him the money he deserves. Weaver wants to barley raise his VCU salary with the idea Smart is better off at Tech because its a more powerful bball program. As noted days ago, Smart turned down 2.5 million from Illonis and 2.2 million from LSU in the past month alone. I'll keep you updated.

I'm just not convinced he is worth $2.5M a year. Yes, he's had two successful runs in the tournament, but has he even remotely proven enough to be one of the top 10 highest paid coaches in the country. I don't think he has.

It's worth pointing out that ironically, even with lack of success, Seth Greenberg was kind of a household name.

Tom Brands was a problem because he tried to get all the scholarship wrestlers to come with him en masse. He only got away with it because nobody gives a crap about college wrestling. If anyone tried to do that in basketball or football they would get crucified.

IRRC, he red-shirted this first class, and tried to take them when he left for Iowa. Weaver was hard nosed and wouldn't grant them a release. He wasn't too popular with the Iowa folks....

Sounds like Shaka's not interested in being "VT Family" - wanting all that money.
