The problem with Mooney is that his "methodical offense" is probably not going to appeal to the guys on the current team who were recruited to a different system. IMHO, it is absolutely vital that we hire someone who will keep everyone who's already in the program from transferring and who can persuade Harrell and Wood to follow through on their intentions to attend VT as well. To do that, we need a coach who runs an aggressive, up-tempo style of offense and places a premium on tough defense, IMHO. That's what all these kids bought into when they signed with VT. We're still a very young team. If we can keep everyone here, we can bridge the transition successfully, I think.
If you asked me to choose between "methodical" and "up-tempo" in describing the SG offense, I would not hesitate to choose methodical. It boggles my mind that you would think we might have recruits coming because of the lure of our "up-tempo" offense.
