Seth wasn't sacked because we have Shaka or some game changer lined up. Seth wasn't fired because of any ethical concerns. Seth wasn't fired because of win/losses, NCAA appearances, or recuriting. Nope. Seth was fired because well......he doesnt own a bass boat.

"That desire, he said, came to him as he stood before a workshop of 182 fulltime staff members of the athletic department.
''The relationship of that program to the rest of the department is what hit me,'' Weaver said, noting that Greenberg did not attend the workshop. Weaver declined to elaborate, but said it was quite evident to him at the department workshop.

Well, there you have it. "Your boss is dead. He'd dead, and nothing will bring him back, Tom. Now it's up to you to make the peace with Sonny. He was hot for my deal, wasn't he?" - Sollozzo

Sounds to me that he ran all his coaches off like Groh did and he didn't even show up for a meeting where all the other coaches in the department showed up. Sounds like a no brainer to me.

but you do it after recruiting is done... or you line up a replacement then announce it
timing is everything in life... Weaver evidently just likes to read his press

I don't read any of that from this article. I obviously don't think we're getting Shaka - if you look at Weaver's hires, a high $$$ hire would be completely out of character for him - but even if Weaver did have a favored candidate, he certainly can't announce it. When a state agency has a vacancy, it has to advertise the vacancy, have a search committee, etc. Even if Weaver knows that the end result is going to be to hire a certain person, he has to go through the motions.

Whatever clown got Weaver fired up enough to do this better cough up enough money to keep this from being a total disaster. Who fires someone with no replacement in mind while he's out trying to wring another recruit or two out of the woodwork this spring? I don't know where we ended after this year but we were the fourth winningest program in the ACC during Seth's tenure. Who else, within reasonable striking distance of us getting, could have pulled that off? And, he was a great ambassador for the school. Weaver needs to pack it in. Hope I'm wrong but this has disaster written all over it. You either have to hire a big-time coach which we won't do or you have to put up with the inevitable rough edges that come with a guy like Seth who has enough drive to will a crap basketball school into a winner. VT needed to put it's big boy pants on, accept Seth for who he is and while at it, tell Weaver "thanks for your service, adios". This has major screw up written all over it. If Smart is not coaching here in a few days, Weaver and Goddard both need to step down and turn the program over to people who won't get too bent out of shape over a guy going on recruiting trip at a critical recruiting time even though it conflicted with some damn workshop. I know. Its hard to know the exact nature of all this stuff from the outside but it sure looks goofy as hell.

I'm not trying to be picky, but we were the 7th winningest program in the ACC under Seth's tenure with a 67-75 overall record. Not bad. Not great, but not bad. This action was not based on wins & losses or NCAA appearances.
There was a lot going on here that you were not privy to. It's not hard to figure it out if you read the tea leaves in the recent events.
