It's not okay to have a journalist break the news to said coach. When/where did CSG first hear the news? If as we are to believe, it was totally unacceptable. The WP article only mentioned that 2 anonymous sources leaked the news. That is disgraceful, also. Leaking and reporting in that manner.

Reporters don't have a duty to respect another coach's feelings.

Ah. Yeah, I wouldn't have done the press conference. Release a statement and move on with the search.

Greenberg wasn't available to meet with him any earlier in the day. So should Weaver have put it all off until tomorrow? Put on your big boy pants!

This was handled poorly. They knew they were firing him, they could have just done it, without announcing a press conference bf telling him he was fired.

I'm guessing that most people here that are posting comments have never been fired. Unfortunately I know by experience that by the time you find out, probably 10% or more of your organization already knows before you do. Perhaps even higher.

I'd venture to guess that no one on here is a public figure and our firings wouldn't hit the news.

Totally different situation. It's fine for other people to know but man up and meet with the guy before you call for a press conference.
