i made the opposite change, from what would be called white collar paper pusher (architecture and land planning) to manufacturing (robotics and automation). two completely different jobs. when i changed i had one job offer in architecture and one in manufacturing.

it took a little while to adjust and there was significant second guessing... "is this really where i belong?" type things. as i worked up the ranks i got more challenged and intellectually stimulated and those questions went away.

as a consultant you are president, ceo, and head bottle washer... your position will never change. im not sure how i would react to that. i tend to believe i would feel immediately bored. probably two different personality types between you and me.
