Nascar gives you a 10% boost for winning the race over second place, F1 gives you >30%. The gap to 10th place is even more amazing... Nascar gives 34 pts (~25% less than 1st) while F1 gives you 1/25th of 1st.
I know they like making every team feel they are competing so the Wonderbread Chevy limping around the track at 30mph can tell its sponsors it is doing well but it seems there isn't any real benefit to winning a race (I'll save my rant for "the chase" later : ) ).
