Having eight separate advertisement posts dilutes the likelihood of any of them getting read and decreases the likelihood that a user is going to notice that there is actual traffic on the message board. (A casual user is going to see the stickies, assume nothing new has been posted in a month, and not necessarily scroll far enough down to see the actual content.)
