It can't. The Skins need to sue and Goodell and DeMaurice Smith need to be fired.

Somebody was saying even though there was no salary cap, other teams operated within guidelines, and all the teams agreed there could be adjustments like this once teh salray cap came back.

I do not know if it is true, and regardless, I think it it is a bunch of you know what.

That's called collusion and it's illegal.

    Exactly.
The Redskins and Cowboys refused to participate in illegal collusion and the NFL front office approved every single contract that they're now trying to punish them for.

The whole point of there being an uncapped year was to encourage the owners to negotiate with the Players Union - that was why the previous CBA had that provision. It was leverage to get a new CBA done. Instead the owners colluded to negate that leverage.

I would hope this to leads to a review of the NFL's Anti-Trust Exemption if the NFL front office keeps pushing these penalties.

Let me Summarize: The Redskins are an independent business, one that Snyder can do with as he pleases. Unfortunately for him the Redskins belong to the one and only National Football League, one that is run by a group of owners. These owners like to cover eachother's backs when it comes to labor agreements and so forth.

Snyder flipped the middle finger at 28 other owners and has pissed them all off at a high level. Being that the NFL is the only place the Redskins can play, Snyder may not have technically broken any laws or contracts....but he totally screwed himself and the Redskins. This punishment is not over...they will remember for a very long time.

If the Skins and the Cowboys sue (not a given) the leagues' collusion gets exposed in court, which could bring up anti-trust problems for the NFL. Not real smart.

Agree. I see a closed door settlement here.
