I guess the selection committee thinks that they could be this year's VCU? Any way, I already completed my 2012 NCAA Tournament bracket.
The fastest way for a major league veteran to play for a playoff contender is to sign with the Pittsburgh Pirates in the off season. He is guaranteed to be traded to a playoff team by August.

According to the chair, this year it was better to play good teams and lose...even to bad teams...than to play against middlin' teams and win a lot...

It changes every year...compaing them to Drexel, I dont see how anyone could possibly take them...they need to tighten up this process...

It's pretty clear when it comes down to the last 8 teams the committee just picks who they want in, and then tries to find some stat to defend it. I still don't see how some people can argue this isn't arbitrary.

That, and/or those teams, along with probably the last 5-8 out are very interchangeable.

If they were simply interchangeable than the committee should say something like "well you know we had to pick somebody here". Instead they pick out random stats that favor their selections. The funny thing is though, they don't use the same stats every year to favor their selections. That is because they pick the teams who they want in the end, without using a solid criteria. So if they want Team B over Team A one year and Team B has a higher RPI than they will say that is the reason they picked them. However if they want Team B over Team A in another year but yet Team A has a better RPI, but doesn't have more Top 50 wins than Team B, than they will use that stat. However in another year if they want Team B over Team A but yet Team A has more top 50 RPI win's than Team B, than they will use OOC or vs top 100/200 record against Team A so they can justify selecting Team B. You follow here? This process is called arbitrary.

I don't think anyone denies that it's a subjective criteria. It is. If I wanted to, I could use all kinds of arguments, stats, etc. for teams in the 31-45 range of why Team X should be in over Team Y. The best counter for a bubble team is to win more games.

Obviously you want to win more games, but that still doesn't change the fact that a random committee can pick who they want in the end. In the case of Virginia Tech, it could cost people's jobs.

Ok. Win more games and get off the bubble.
