    Prayers Needed......

My father in law was just diagnosed with Glioblastoma, the most aggressive and least treatable form of brain tumor, in both hemispheres. Based on position and size,it is inoperable. Radiation and Chemo will follow but that will only delay the inevitable. The man active and healthy his whole life. Came out of nowhere. He was skiing 3 weekends ago. An incredible family man, father in law and community leader.

    Thanks in advance.

Certainly. Prayers for him and all who love him, and for the guidance for his team of doctors.

Have they looked into using a Gamma knife? My grandfather had an "inoperable" tumor on his brain stem a few months ago. They sent him up to UVA for the gamma knife and now a few months later is brain tumor is almost completely gone. They originally didn't give him much over a couple months, but now he's moving around pretty well for someone with a very bleak original prognosis.

I'm really sorry to hear that. My father was diagonosed with the exact same thing my Junior year of high school. (I'm currently enrolled as a sophomore at VT). Similar to your father in law, my dad had a virtually spotless health record, so it's definitely a shocker. My dad had actually been playing hockey until he was daignosed with this (yes, at age 57 he still could move pretty well on skates)There is hope though. At the time of diagnosis, he was projected to have twelve months to live, and he is still alive and fighting today. In fact, he's still working 50 hours a week right now (something my entire family really tries to sell him on stopping). The radiation will do a lot, and the Chemo (known as Themidar(Sp?)) can be absolute hell, but he just has to keep fighting. My dad has been very strict on maintaining his usualy daily routine, which consists of an hour and a half long workout, which I really think has helped him carry on as far as he has been able to. Once again, best of luck.
