The comparable situation in basketball would be UNC bowing out of the ACC tournament semifinal in 2008 and giving us a shot at Clemson in the ACC championship game. We could have easily won that (we would have been favored). What if we had won the ACC in 2008? No one would be daring to have these discussions on this board.

This whole comparison is somewhat apples and oranges. But at least let's stick to things that are circumstantially similar. That facts are that the committee has prevented VT and Seth Greenberg from attempting that "Sugar Bowl" moment in basketball, when in 1995 the stars aligned and Frank Beamer's team were handed a chance to prove themselves on the big stage.
You want to deal in facts, then don't use the term "fact" in saying the committee has prevented VT from being in the NCAA tournament! That is pure conjecture. VT didn't make the tourney because they didn't have the resume
