You don't think that has anything to do with the fact that all the "great coaches" are at big-name, title contending programs, do you? Kind of hard for a Duke, UNC, etc.. to use the "chip on the shoulder" or "victim" mindset.......

SG is not a "great" coach, and lets be honest with ourselves that unless we get extremely lucky early in a guys career, VT bball is not ever going to see a "great coach"... at best a stepping stone for a bigger program. What he is is a program builder... someone who can increase the wins, facilities, exposure, and general excitement for a program. He can use that "chip on the shoulder" attitude to lead inferior teams to occasional monumental (and program building) upsets. Last years College Gameday and Duke win was amazing and is the best example. Given that he has also brought in the highest regarded recruiting class ever at VT this past year, I'd say the program building is and will continue. This season is a minor blip on the radar of a much bigger picture

Oh yeah, and another thing that goes along with program building... something that proves he has done his job very well thus far at VT... expectations. We have gone from not expecting to win a conference game to beating Dukes/UNCs/#1s enough to raise expectations A LOT. SG's biggest "fault" is how quickly he turned things around... now he has a portion of the fans (the ones you see on this board complaining about him all the time) expecting consistent ncaa appearances, upset at 20+ win seasons, as if its not a big deal for VT bball
