I'm saying 50% or more. Seems like a lot of old poster names are missing.
If so, It makes me sad.

Will has posted exact numbers several times in detail. It's down about 20% but it's apples to oranges because the old board required a page for every post whereas the new board only requires 1 page for 20 posts. The biggest issue is that subscriptions are way down.
Will has posted very detailed info on this twice. So yes. It's being talked about and if you are using linear view you'll see that thread come to the top several times every day as its been going for a week now.
I think a lot of threaded users are missing where the conversations are occurring because the thread scrolls off in their view but many other people continue to post in it for days and days. Threaded users are expecting the majority of new posts to happen in new topics as was the case in the old board. But that doesn't happen nearly as often in this format.

That's probably true of those who are viewing threaded in chronological order (which I'm considering switching to). My issue is sort of the opposite...I am viewing the board in threaded view but it seems as if the same posts never go away. It doesn't inspire me to chime into the conversation when Kingsland's "epic fail on signing day" prediction post is seemingly the only thing on the football board day after day after day. I know it's NOT the only thing on the board and I know if I dig through it there are some good responses in there...somewhere!...but what happens is that I glance at it and unless I am trying to kill time, I just bag it. Love it or hate it, the old board had some "movement" to it and everyone was operating off the same reference point...while I realize there were those who tired of things being discussed repeatedly, I always thought there was some merit in certain topics scrolling off and fading away. It seems that in this new format there is a chance they are just going to be "in your face" forever.
And I know, I know, I should switch to linear/topic view. Look, call me whatever you want. I just don't like it. I never liked it when I visited other school's message boards, I really hoped it would grow on me here (and maybe it will some day), but it just isn't my thing.

I am a huge fan of the vbulletin format. The old format began to just get boring for me after 2-3 years...
However, you brought up the only thing i dont like about it (vbulletin), which is a long thread that keeps showing its face and never goes away (having like over 30 pages). I wish there was an ignore function similar to ignoring a user that could hide a thread that i am over with, from view. Maybe there is one and i just dont know? If so someone let me know.
I am also kinda puzzled as to why the ones that pay for a subscription left, just because the old format is gone (well its not you can still view the forums in the same way). I would think they would have gotten a subscription in the first place for the hidden content/articles that the site puts out, and not the "drive by" post format that is basically like a chat room.Last edited by VTimHokie85; Tue Feb 07 2012 at 07:12 PM.
