What the heck does Nick Saban say that gets kids to go where ever he is coaching?

I mean before he got to Bama, they basically had been way down under Shula, but he gets kids from lots of different states to go there. Before that college wise he was bringing them into LSU, which was good but not great.

I know some will say he offers incentives (cheats), but until I have evidence, I can't say that is true. However, what the heck does he say to these kids?

I don't know what he's said in the past, but as of right now he really doesn't have to say much. Asking a kid to play for the defending national champs, at one of the most tradition rich programs ever with a rabid fan base isn't that hard. I think Alabama sells itself at this point, but Saban obviously has pulled in the talent without this much of an advantage before so not sure exactly what he says, but it sure as hell works.

Yea I get it now with two recent national championships, but he was getting kids before the national championships. What is he doing that the rest aren't doing? I am just perplexed at how kids are drawn to the guy. I listen to him talk and I don't see where he is any more dynamic than the rest of the coaches.

He basically worked his ass off at LSU and won a national title...that made his a coaching star. The debacle with the dolphins elevated him to pop-culture celebrity status. He's an icon now. He's the spotlight, kids wanna be in the spotlight

"I coach at Bama/LSU and will have you competing for SEC/MNC titles. Oh, did I mention I coach at Bama/LSU?"

Seriously, it takes a special kind of moron to fail at coaching those schools. Bama has all the history and LSU is the only school in a top tier HS FB state.

It's not that simple. Alabama did nothing for years and years before Saban got there.

That, and high-level football players are treated like gods for 5 years while they are down there. I don't know how you could EVER not have a top 10 class at Alabama, LSU, Fla. A 20th ranked class at those schools is a terrible year.

didn't they win a national title in the mid 90s with stallings? some down years but i think even shula won sec coach of the year during his tenure. 10 years or so after MNC a great college coach comes into an historic program and wins again. i don't see what the big deal is.

Shula didn't recruit even close to Saban though, I think that's his question. Stallings was '92, they went close to 15 years never landing these type recruiting classes. They did a little damage in '99 with Dubose, and a decent year with Shula, but this is a whole 'nuther level. These Bama teams would destroy anything Bama has ever put on the field in its history.
