IMHO, TSL format was fine before. Don't see the need to upgrade...to what??? This??

The TSL format was fine before, perhaps, but essentially it was like Cuba. The cars in Cuba are all 1950s, 1960s cars -- they keep fixin' them with wires and hoses and whatnot, but they're still really old cars being held together by a bunch of old men who know them well.
The old TSL format was being held together by baling wire, chewing gum, and a bit of spit. Updates? Not possible. Upgrades? Not a chance. Repair if something breaks? Maybe ... if you're lucky.
This new version is easier to fix, easier to upgrade, and easier to update. Sure, it has power windows and power steering and cruise control and anti-lock brakes and cupholders, and maybe you don't want or need some of those. But the old one couldn't be fixed, and if something major happened then TSL would in all likelihood just go out of business before it could update. So it HAD to be done, no matter how many people liked the previous format.

I think you need to bring this up a bit more. It's not a question of IF something was going to happen to the old site, it's a question of WHEN it was going to happen. And WHEN it happened, you were going to go out of business and all the years of hard work would go down the drain.
Think of the past year and "the new site will be up soon ... up soon ... up soon." Now imagine if there was no old site while that was going on. Sure, it may have gone up a bit faster if Will and Chris didn't have to run one site while building another, but it still would have taken quite some time and destroyed the business more likely than not.

It's different, but was really hoping it would be like Scout's message board. Very easy to follow. This is a little too busy for me. I don't like how the thread shows up in reverse order when you click on it. I think the Scout model is the best out there. I certainly appreciate the effort Will and the gang put into it, but it's just not too my liking and I'm certainly not an old timer unwilling to change

Not sure what is correct order and what is reverse order in your opinion, but you can set the order in the preferences. See Will's tips and tricks.
