CG is closest thing to OBX that Myrtle has. My family vacationed there every year when I was young. It's grown up and cottages have been cleared for some high-rises, but there's still a good number of cottages last I checked. Not far to good restaurants and shopping and all that.
The beach (sand, slope, water, waves) all along Myrtle is awesome, One way it has OBX beat IMO.
But like Dan says in this thread, South MB is an option, too. Definitely more houses/cottages, and NICE ones, down there. But it's further to get there. And a longer drive to the north MB and North Myrtle (yes, it's a separate city, IIRC) areas, and we like a lot of the restaurants and entertainment up that way.
