But I don't think threaded forum view is the best. Will said vBulletin is designed for linear view, and I think it works best in linear view. Although different than the previous TSL format, the linear forum view is more traditional and easier to follow (once you get used to it). I would think the linear forum view should be the default. It is the format that most visitors will be more familiar with and they will be more likely to stick around if they feel comfortable with the format.
Vbulletin is designed for Linear View inside each Thread... however inside each forum / subforum, THreaded or Topic view are fine. Threaded allows you to see the post tree and reply tree inside, while Topic only allows you to see the topic.
The problem with Topic view is, so many people use threaded that when I go into the topic, and am viewing it in linear mode as it is meant to be, the replies don't make sense.
If you view the Forum in Threaded view, I can see where the replies are meant to be placed, and then I can click in on them and view the entire post in in linear view if I so choose to.
