The “Week In Review” feature, a recap of how Virginia Tech’s recruits performed in the previous week, will be posted weekly throughout the 2012 regular season and through the playoffs. Here is how Tech’s class did this past week…
- Kyle Chung, OL/TE/DL, Ponte Vedra (FL)
The Sharks are 6-1 after defeating Palatka, 31-14. Ponte Vedra controlled the game with 371 yards rushing.
- Charles Clark Jr., DB/RB, King’s Fork (Suffolk, VA)
King’s Fork’s surprising run continues, as the Bulldogs are now 6-2 after last week’s 25-21 defeat of previously unbeaten Grassfield.
- Brandon Facyson (CB/WR), Northgate (Newnan, GA)
The Vikings (2-5) had a bye last week. They return to action this Friday night at Starr’s Mill.
- Holland Fisher (S/LB). Manchester (Midlothian, VA)
A healthy Holland Fisher had a 20-yard interception return for a touchdown and a 1-yard touchdown run as the Lancers blew away George Wythe, 62-0. Manchester is 4-3.
- Kendall Fuller, CB/WR, Good Counsel (Olney, MD)
Fuller had three catches for 50 yards and a touchdown as the Falcons (7-1, 4-0 in the WCAC) cruised to a 41-17 win over St. John’s.
Hodges completed 13-of-21 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns as Salem (7-1) defeated a tough Kellam squad, 35-17. Hodges added 67 yards rushing on eight carries.
Motu-apuaka, known for his abilities at linebacker, got in on the offensive action when he hauled in a 2-point conversion pass.
- Cequan Jefferson, CB, Henrico (VA)
Jefferson returned a kick-off 80 yards for a touchdown and hauled in a 49-yard touchdown pass, but Henrico lost to Varina, 66-24. The Warriors fall to 0-7.
- Jameion Moss, LB, Northeastern (Elizabeth City, N.C.)
Northeastern downed Pasquotank, 60-8. This week, the 9-1 Eagles have a showdown against undefeated Holmes High School.
Newsome threw touchdown passes of 66, 14, and 12 yards as the Crabbers rolled over Menchville, 64-0. Williams had a 25-yard touchdown run to start the scoring. Hampton is 7-1.
- Parker Osterloh, OL, Warhill (Williamsburg, VA)
Warhill’s up-and-down season had another down, this time losing to Smithfield by a score of 42-7. Warhill is now 4-4.
- Carlis Parker, QB, Statesville (N.C.)
Statesville’s Greyhounds are 9-1 after last week’s 59-39 win over East Rowan. Parker, once against splitting time at quarterback with ECU-bound athlete Tristan Mumford, produced, completing nine of his 16 passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns. He added 10 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown.
- Braxton Pfaff, OL, Liberty Christian Academy (Lynchburg, VA)
LCA rolled over Hargrave Military Academy, 55-12, and is now 6-1 on the season. Blue Ridge awaits this week before the regular season finale against Benedictine.
- David Prince, ATH, Patrick Henry (Roanoke, VA)
After dropping two straight, Patrick Henry rebounded last week with a 29-7 win over Halifax County. Prince had 74 yards rushing and 65 yards passing for the Patriots (6-2).
- DJ Reid, ATH, Thomas Dale (Chester, VA)
DJ Reid had three rushing touchdowns (21, 18, 6) as the Knights (3-4) downed Prince George, 34-14.
- Anthony Shegog, S/ATH, North Stafford (Stafford, VA)
Anthony Shegog returned an interception 46 yards for a touchdown in helping North Stafford defeat Stafford, 49-20. The Tech-bound recruit also had five carries for 27 yards for the Wolverines (7-1).
- Wyatt Teller, DL/OL, Liberty (Bealeton, VA)
Liberty lost a tough one to Sherando, 14-6. The Eagles cut the lead to 7-6 with a 3-yard touchdown run with four-and-a-half minutes left, but the extra point was blocked. A last ditch effort was thwarted when the Warriors returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown with 33 seconds left.

- Xavier Burke, DL/TE, Brunswick County (Lawrenceville, VA)
Brunswick County (3-5) defeated a quality Park View squad, 42-26, for its second straight win.
- Javon Harrison, ATH, Kathleen (Lakeland, FL)
Kathleen (5-2) had a bye week. This Friday, it returns to action against Lake Gibson.
- Vinny Mihota, DE/OL, Massaponax (Fredericksburg, VA)
Massaponax downed Riverbend, 41-22, in a key Commonwealth District match-up. The Panthers (5-3) meet another district rival this week in Colonial Forge.
