Top RB Derrick Green Narrows List

Via Facebook, Hermitage (Richmond, VA) running back Derrick Green has announced that he has narrowed his list of schools to 13.  The 6’0″, 230-pound prospect, one of the most highly recruited rising senior running backs in the nation, collected over 30 FBS scholarship offers before making this initial cut.

“”lucky 13″ Tennessee, Michigan, Oregon, Ohio state, ole miss, Virginia tech, auburn, Clemson, Alabama, Miami, Pitt, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma state! Last 13 schools in the running!!” – Green wrote on his Facebook wall.

Green rushed for 1,493 yards and 19 touchdowns last season as a junior, helping Hermitage to an undefeated regular season and an appearance in the Group AAA Division 6 state semifinals.  He rushed for over 600 yards as a sophomore in 2010, helping the Panthers reach the Division 6 state finals that season.

Rivals.com ranks Green as a 5-star prospect, while ESPN and Scout have him ranked as a 4-star recruit.  TSL rates him in the 4-star category, and the no. 2 player in the state in the class of 2013.

  1. Whats with recruits lovefest for Clemson??

    • Swinney was known as a top recruiter when he was an assistant. He’s obviously using those skills to his advantage as head coach. Last season’s success no doubt has helped as well.

  2. Hope he chooses Running Back U and goes to Tech. Hope that choice would be a natural.
VT has a pretty good rep. with running backs.
